Hi Friends! I’m so excited to share that I recently partnered with BBC Studios for the TV show,Bluey, to create this fun backyard birthday celebration. Bluey, an animated series that follows the adventures of a family of Blue Heeler dogs, is such an adorable show. My boys love watching it on Disney+ and they really enjoy all the imaginative games and adventures that 6-year-old Bluey, and her sister, Bingo, experience with their mom and dad. Since we are all spending so much time at home right now, I wanted to share some fun at-home games and activities to make celebrating a birthday with your family a fun and memorable event. One of the things that I have realized over the past several weeks is that playing and having fun is never cancelled. Taking time to make memories with our kids, under any circ*mstances, is always so special and important. I hope you can use these simple DIY ideas, games, recipe, and free printables to create a fun Bluey Backyard Birthday Party for your family!

The simple theme of our at-homeBluey Backyard Birthday Party celebration is an outdoor camping (or “glamping”) adventure. I decorated the teepee from my boys’ playoom with some balloons and this bunting banner. I also added some fringe streamers and a printable of Bluey and Bingo (located in the form at the bottom of this post). I used our picnic bench as the main table for our treats. First I filled plastic glasses with Sixlet candies and put a cupcake on top of each one. Then I added a cupcake topperto complete the look. I filled treat cups with a Bluey Backyard Birthday Treat (recipe below) and wrapped each cup with a printable of Bluey or Bingo (also located in the form at the bottom of this post). The rest of the backyard was devoted to our outdoor games!

A core aspect of the showBlueyis imaginative games that the characters play in each episode. I personally love the simplicity of the games. Bluey and her family often use make-believe to transform everyday items into parts of the game. So I quickly realized we can’t have a Bluey party without some fun, whimsical games! Our first game is Bluey and Bingo noodle races.

Much like a stick pony, to make this easy DIY you will need 1 and a half pool noodles for each character.
Step 1: First, line up the half noodle with the top of the full-length noodle. Then, with clear packing tape, tape the two pieces together.
Step 2: Then, fold the top of the noodles down to make room for the face. Wrap tape around the folded portion. Note: The shorter-length noodle will now be folded completely in half.
Step 3: Next, print these character faces and attach them to the front of the noodle. Now your Bluey and Bingo noodles are ready to race!

To set up this game, I placed 6 hula hoops in the grass followed by a series of orange cones. Each racer needed to ride on their Bluey or Bingo noodle and hop through each hula hoop. Then they needed to weave through each orange cone. Lastly, they had to run back to the starting point, all while still riding on their noodle. To add even more fun, you could add a “freeze” element to this game. Play music from your phone or bluetooth speaker. Then each time you pause the music, the racers will need to freeze until the music starts again. My boys had such a blast with this game!

The next activity at our at-homeBluey Backyard Birthday Party was an adventure scavenger hunt. We searched the backyard for—something blue, something shiny, a feather, a rock, etc.—checking them off as we went. You can download this scavenger hunt printable by filling out the form at the bottom of this post. Simply download, print and start searching! So simple and a lot of fun!

With all the fun activity and games, we worked up a hunger! Time for a treat! We had cupcakes and a delicious snack mix at our little celebration. To follow along with our outdoor adventure theme, I wanted to make a “trail mix” type treat that had a sweet twist. Afterall, you can’t have a birthday celebration without a sweet treat! I decided to make a Bluey Backyard Birthday Treat. Below are the step-by-step photos and recipe.

We ended our Bluey at-home celebration with earning medals of achievement! For completing the games and activities, I awarded my boys with Bluey medals. The medal portion is a free printable (located in the form at the bottom of this post) and I just glued a ribbon to the back to make it into a medal. With a piece of velcro or a safety pin you could easily make the medals into merit badges, too! Another fun idea that fits this theme so well!
